We are currently looking to hire a full time Research Scientist and welcome highly qualified individuals to submit an application.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The Research Scientist will be an important member of our team and will have the following responsibilities :

  • Establish and validate ex/in vitro cellular models of neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation using human iPSC-derived and/or primary human and rodent neuronal co-cultures
  • Define, design, and perform experiments using in vitro cellular models to evaluate molecules and or genetic modifiers (e.g., CRISPR, shRNA) to validate drug discovery targets and/or progress lead optimization projects
  • Plan and conduct pharmacological studies characterizing effects with an array of in vitro techniques that may include immunoassays (ELISA, MSD, Quanterix), Real-time PCR, high-content cell imaging, mass spectrometry, confocal microscopy, and RNAseq, among others
  • Independently execute laboratory experiments, conduct statistically supported data analysis, and deliver results in a timely manner to enable informed decision making
  • Perform appropriate data analysis and troubleshoot experiments under minimal supervision
  • Keep up-to-date and well-organized records of experiments
  • Discuss and present data and ideas both within Stellate and externally, including conferences and publications
  • Foster and nurture both internal and external collaborations and relationships within area of expertise
  • Provide supervision, inspiration, and growth opportunities for research associates conducting experiments
  • Become an innovative thought leader within specific areas of expertise, including actively participating in meetings with senior leadership and in cross-functional or cross-level teams


Who You Are:

The candidate should have a background in the neuroscience field and the following


Required Qualifications:

  • PhD with academic or industry postdoctoral training in neuroscience, neurological diseases or related fields and/or microbiome research (2+ years of postdoctoral academic or industry experience is preferable)
  • Strong knowledge of neurodegenerative disease biology with experience in cell culture systems, including working with primary cells as well as generating iPSCs and differentiating them into neurons and glial cells.
  • Experience with histology methods and imaging assays, such as RNAscope, immunohistochemistry and high-content imaging
  • Strong molecular biology skills including DNA/RNA/protein extraction and analysis (e.g. Western/Northern Blots, RT-qPCR). CRIPSR technology would be a plus.
  • Proven track record of scientific accomplishment including generating publication quality data and contributing to manuscript and/or patent preparation
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to contribute to a team
  • Clear, effective written and verbal communication


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in planning, performing and analyzing animal models of neurological disease
